Using Martha Stewart Living Metallic Glaze on a frame.

One of my new favorite finds are these Martha Stewart Living Metallic Glazes.

I just bought the glaze in the mercury color and decided to try it out on a frame I picked up at a flea market a while ago.

The frame started out an ugly gold.

I first spray painted (yep, my favorite form of painting) the frame using Rust-Oleum in a flat white and after that dried I followed it up with a coat of Rust-Oleum spray paint in a satin sweet pea color.

In this picture, I coated the left side of the frame with the glaze in the mercury color using a sponge brush and wiping the excess off with a soft paper towel.  I only did the left half for the picture so you could see the difference.

It's subtle but gives it a little more of a softened look.

Before the glaze...

After the glaze...

The finished result!

I'm definitely going to find more uses for these glazes.  I love the effect they give.

*I bought these glazes from Home Depot.
